The presence of God among His people was a longing and a promise throughout their history. In brief moments in the Old Testament, visible manifestations of His glory were offered to bring encouragement and comfort. The rabbis called it Shekinah, literally, “He caused to dwell.” In an ultimate act of saving love, rather than simply offering manifestations of His presence, “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”  Now, we too can behold His glory this Christmas season.
