Our Story

Hanna City Presbyterian Church has been around since the 1850s. That's a long time, and we're grateful for the story that God has told so far. We are thankful for our past, but we're not a church living in the past. We know that God has a purpose for us in this generation to love God and love people in the here and now.

As much as we love our past and see our responsibility in the present, God is also a God of the future. Jesus Christ came not just to die for sins (our past), or to empower us for His purposes now (our present), but to fix what's broken in this fallen world and someday return to wipe away every tear (our future). We'd love for you to join us in this journey that looks to our past, lives in the present, but longs for that future.

Our Denomination

Hanna City Presbyterian Church is a member of the local presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), the Presbytery of Northern Illinois (PNI). The PCA has been a part of the reformed, confessional community since 1973, though the denomination’s heritage can be traced back to the Reformation in the 1500s and still seeks to echo the historic church established 2000 years ago in the shadow of the cross of Jesus Christ.  The PCA is passionate about Jesus, so Hanna City Presbyterian Church freely and joyfully links with this denomination and echoes their desire to be "faithful to the Scriptures, true to the Reformed faith, and obedient to the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.” You can learn more about the PCA on their website.

Our Mission

Hanna City Presbyterian Church exists to glorify God by making, maturing, and mobilizing disciples to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to Hanna City, our nation, and our world.

Our Hope

We strive to be a safe place where anyone in our community can come face to face with the God Who Is. We are a place for people who know they're a mess but also long to know the only One who can fix what we've broken. Ultimately, we are a place where the love of Jesus Christ and the truth of Jesus Christ can be experienced firsthand, and where lives can be changed.
